So, this week has been going fairly well. I’ve been sticking to our meal plan and we’ve all really enjoyed it. On the house cleaning front I’m almost back on top of the kitchen again and the livingroom will be great again once we find a home for all the stuff we pulled out from under the stairs to create the office nook there last Saturday.
Wednesday morning our day started off pretty good. Nicholas and I got up early and got off to go meetup with Gemma and Finley to go scout out a new location to hold our local Netmums meetups at. With the chilly cold Nick’s nose started to run again. On the way back down the hill after this trip we ran into one of the older ladies from church who invited us in for a cup of tea, which was simply wonderful. It was so nice to feel even a little bit of a sense of parish community again. Afterwards Nicholas and I went home and had some lunch.
It was at this point that things started to sour. . . normally we go to a carers and toddlers group on Wednesday afternoon, so we set off back up the hill to catch the bus. We were already running slightly late and in the hurry Nicholas tripped getting on the bus. He was fine. . . but little did we know then, he had dropped one of his favourite toy cars (a blue ‘the king’ race car from the movie cars!) This went unnoticed by either of us until we were well off the bus and almost to the church where the toddler group is held. Nicholas asked for his juice cup, so I got it out of my bag and asked him if he wanted to me to hold his car for him, at which point he burst into tears realizing his car was missing.
We ended up backtracking in search of the car as he cried and cried and said ‘it’s NOT okay’ over and over again. The car was gone. We went home and occupied Nicholas by baking cookies and brownie bites. I sent Rick a text about it and he searched many many shops in Birmingham looking for a new one. Which he found and gave to Nicholas when he got home. Nicholas was very excited that daddy found it for him, but he also knows that it’s new (the old one had a wonky wheel that didn’t spin right). . .
Thursday was pretty good. We had a wonderful Netmums meetup at one of the local soft play centres and had fun searching through several greengrocers for zucchini (courgettes) to go with Rick’s birthday dinner. My dark chocolate cherry cake turned out wonderfully, as did the Moussakka that was for dinner.
