This past week at my house things have simply been sort of ‘blah’. . .
Nicholas has a cold that won’t budge, and the dishes that need washing up simply seem to keep multiplying when I leave the room. . .
Monday morning, Nicholas and I went and got pastries for breakfast, got the fresh ingredients for our stir-fry dinner and picked up some lovely apples, grapes and bananas from the local open air market. . .
Tuesday was our shopping day. Nicholas and I went to both the big ASDA in the morning and Wolverhampton in the afternoon. I found golden flax seeds and a bunch of other stuff that I’ve been missing in a healthfood store. However, I didn’t find any zucchini (courgettes), which ruined my meal plan for the day. . . so we had Tuesday’s planned dinner instead!
Tuesday night a local choir Viva Musica was holding an open night, so I went to check it out. I don’t think until I started singing again, that I had any idea how much I missed it. For as long as I can remember I’ve been in choirs, but it’s something I gave up when Nicholas was little. I was one of the youngest in the room (one member used to watch my husband when he was little), but I felt at peace. The choir rehearses once a week on Tuesday nights and do all types of music. I just need to work out with Rick whether we can make it work or not, as Tuesday is his long teaching day.
Wednesday became my house cleaning and bread baking day of the week. Kearsten came over and I showed her how I make bread and the housework didn’t all get done, but that doesn’t matter. Nicholas and I had baked beans, scrambled eggs, and fresh baked bread for dinner as I still didn’t have everything for the soup; Rick was really late and stopped at the chippy.
Which brings me to today, which I’m really excited about for two reasons. . . First, I’m meeting up with three other American moms at a local soft-play in about an hour! Which should be lots of fun. . . Second, tonight is the parish forum meeting at church where we’re going to discuss ways to involve the youth/young adults of the parish! I’m hoping that we get some other younger faces at our meeting tonight! =)
