That’s the message I found under the foil wrapper of a piece of dark chocolate I ate this week. It struck a chord. So many times in life we fall short of our expectations.
Whether that failure is feeling like like not spending enough time playing with a child, or whether that failure is represented by a degree never finished at university is irrelevant. The next day that same child will want to play with you again – and university studies can be resumed.
That doesn’t make it easy though. Making those potential ‘do-overs’ a reality can seem daunting – thankfully, acknowledging them for the gift that they are can make the impossible seem attainable.
Yesterday, I didn’t spend as much time playing with Clever Preschooler as I would have liked to. Today I’ve got a ‘do-over’ – I’ve got a chance to giggle and grin and push toy cars around with him – and I’m going to take it!
