So, I’m good at sorting stuff, when I do it. . . it’s just the actually sitting down and taking the time to do it that is my big problem. . . After months of not really finding a nice daily routine that fits Nicholas and myself, I am determined to find one that fits us. . .
Nicholas is 2 years 7 months. . . very bright, loves to read stories over and over and over. . . he’s very interested in what different letters spell. . . he knows that p-i-z-z-a spells pizza and m-i-l-k spells milk. . . and I want to find a way to nurture his natural curiousity without overwhelming him. . . I do NOT want to do flash cards or anything like that. . . I more just want to find ways to introduce the spellings of words into our daily life. . .
We have a bedtime routine that works nicely. . . pjs, brush teeth, clean face, in bed, story, kiss, story, light out. . . and it works really well. . . but the rest of our days seem really chaotic lately. . . and I know that I am the only one to blame for this. . . I also really need to find ways to keep him engaged in conversation when I’m in the kitchen cleaning, rather than leaving him always to solo play at those times. . .
The next week I’m going to sort this out. . . that is my goal. . . to plan and establish a weekday routine that will work for us. . . I imagine there will be many differences between Monday’s trial run and the routine that we finally stick with. . . but that’s okay, that’s what life is. . . a series of trials. . .
